TRUST, WITH CLEAR BOUNDARIES

Know who’s helping. Stay in control.

UniVi connects families with local students for practical settlement help. Verification checks specific facts; it does not guarantee someone’s conduct or your safety.

What verification means

Buddies must be 18 or over, pass identity and current-student checks, and confirm eligibility for self-employed work. Verification documents stay with the verification provider where possible. A document upload or university email alone is not a completed check.

Younger students

This first release supports newcomers aged 16 and over. Students under 18 require consent from a verified adult parent or guardian. Services involving regulated work with children require appropriate safeguarding eligibility before confirmation. A private agreement cannot bypass these checks.

Meet with a clear plan

Start in a public place, agree the task and time, and keep account passwords and banking details private. Accommodation visits and purchases must be explicitly included in the agreed service. Buddies do not provide medical, legal, immigration or emergency advice.

Report a concern

Use “Report this profile” on a buddy’s page. For a funded milestone, “Raise a concern” pauses payment for platform review. You can block a buddy from future bookings.

Immediate danger

Call 999 in an emergency. Do not wait for a response through this platform. For urgent health advice in Scotland, contact NHS 24 on 111.
